IE Crashing with error Faulting module path: C:\windows\syswow64\msvcrt.dll

Ran across a very strange instance today with Windows 7 64 Bit and IE9.

When opening IE9 on a fresh image – it would immediately crash and try to restart.  It would loop a few times and eventually just display a blank IE screen.

The event log shows this error:

Faulting module path: C:\windows\syswow64\msvcrt.dll

error1

error2

Here’s the quick fix.  After IE bombs a few times and sits broken, go to Tools – Internet Options – Advanced Tab –

Check the following option on top “Use software rendering instead of GPU redering”

fix

Restart IE9 and that should fix it.  If not, you most likely have larger issues in your image.

I updated adobe flash and java – nothing. I removed all add-ons – nothing. I upgraded ie from 10 to 11 – still nothing! And then I tried this and it freakin worked! Wowsers. Much obliged my good man.

Thank you so much!! I tried a lot of other solutions, even after resetting IE, reinstalling. Getting latest updates and running a couple of adware and malware removers and this works!!
